Xiaomi Mi 10i Review: As we are already halfway into the first month of 2021, a few smartphones have already made their way into the Indian market, while many are in the pipeline. With brands like Apple and Samsung ruling the global market; brands like Xiaomi, Realme, Vivo, and many more are emerging as a tough competitor in the hyper-competitive Indian smartphone market.

To meet the ever-growing demand for smartphones, the brands are launching a plethora of phones, and we get to see a few sporadic launches now and then; and the latest to join the bandwagon is the Xiaomi Mi 10i smartphone.
This latest smartphone is one of the newest additions to the Rs. 25,000 smartphone segments and comes with a whooping 108-megapixel camera. Sounds too good to be true, right? That’s how Xiaomi is placing its bid to make the brand more approachable for the consumers.
But do the camera specifications are alone enough to grab attention? Should you go ahead and buy it based on the claims? What are its pros and cons? Here’s our Mi 10i review to help you determine if the specifications really translate into a value for money for consumers.
Xiaomi Mi 10i Review
Design
While the color preference is subjective, this latest Xiaomi smartphone – at least in the Indian smartphone market has received extensive acclaim for its sturdy chick look and alluring color options. The device comes in 3 color options, i.e., Pacific Sunrise, Atlantic Blue, and Midnight Black. With such a variety of appealing colors, the one that seems to have taken a special liking for its unique color scheme is Pacific Sunrise, which also appears on most of the promotional creatives of Xiaomi.

The Mi 10i phones have a frosted glass finish which ensures that it is not glossy and good at avoiding fingerprint smudges. However, this is not to say that if you plan to purchase the light color variant, you might have to go through the constant battle to keep it spotless if you wish to use it without a cover.
Coming to its design, there’s a circular camera on the back, which is evocative of a few Motorola smartphones. In contrast, the front design looks regular with a punch-hole camera design.
The phone is pretty well built, but there’s more to the latest smartphone than meets the eye.
The 6.67-inch display and its weight of 215 grams make it a hefty handset to use. However, those who have used a larger-screen phone in the past will not find it difficult to get used to Xiaomi Mi 10i soon enough.

Display
The Xiaomi smartphone comes with a 6.67 inch LCD panel display, which feels a little inferior – especially when compared to the AMOLED’s LCD panel on the Samsung Galaxy M51, against which the Mi 10i competes in various markets. But don’t be disheartened, because the Mi new launch has a card up to its sleeve with an addition of up to 120 Hz refresh rate. The phone also features HDR 10+ certification for those who prefer watching high-resolution content.

Although the display cannot match up to the AMOLED panels’ brightness level on phones in this segment, this is still among the better LCD panels you’d find in the mid-range phones.
Camera
Enough of the hype, it time to take a look at how it performs. The complete camera setup is 108-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor, a 2-megapixel macro sensor, and last but not least 2-megapixel depth sensor. Considering the Xiaomi Mi 10i smartphone price, which starts at Rs 20,999, the camera is certainly impressive. While clicking pictures in bright outdoors or a well-lit room, one can expect amazing pictures with no lag, but note that you have to enable the 108-megapixel if you wish to take high-resolution pictures.

Talking about its 16-megapixel selfie camera is at the best average but is on par with what one will get from a phone under this price segment. Like most Chinese smartphones, the Xiaomi Mi 10i goes a little overboard with its beauty mode setting. Even when the effects are turned down, you would still see the phone ‘polish’ and ‘smoothen’ your face. Needless to say, the camera is worth all the hype with the feature hitherto reserved for high-end premium handsets.
Stereo Speakers
With the consumers believing in the “the more, the better” mantra, the phone features stereo speakers, rare to find in mid-range smartphones. With the wireless earbuds gaining popularity among the masses, this surely comes as a great feature.
Battery Life
The phone packs a 4820 mAh battery capable of powering the phone for more than a day on medium to heavy usage. In addition to that, the Mi 10i has bundled a 33W fast charger, which means you don’t have to wait for too long to charge your phone completely.
Xiaomi Mi 10i Review: Who Should Buy the Xiaomi Mi 10i smartphone?
The Xiaomi Mi 10i would be a great purchase for someone looking for a mid-range smartphone that ticks off many boxes in the features department. Apart from its classy design, the phone clicks good pictures and has a good battery life with reliable performance. For those who don’t want to shell out a big amount on a new phone and yet need an oomph of an elegant design, this Mi new launch is a viable option.
